The hourglass :

Both the hourglass and the sand was rose gold in colour

The sand is swirling in the middle

The moment he thought of :

His first threesome experience. Reason being, he was in a polyamorous relationship before. Recently he became monogamous and he feels extremely happy and secure doing so because of the individual he is with.

Participant 2

The hourglass :

Inside of sand, it is multi-coloured light inside the glass going in circles

Participant 3

Female

Age 25

Location: Singapore

The hourglass :

The sand inside was moving in shape the represent the number 8, the sand was extremely colourful and the hourglass was made of gold. Size is of a normal hourglass where she can hold it in one hand

The moment she thought of :

“ I was thinking of the time when I was such a nerd in secondary school, also where I use to read a lot of fictional stories from the internet and use to illustrate them”

Participant 4

Male

Age 26

Location: Singapore

The hourglass :

The sand was moving upwards, the bottom sand was in red colour and as it is going up it is burning like charcoal and changing into a black colour/ magma ( almost like a frozen volcano )

The moment he thought of :

He was thinking about the first two years of his Bachelors when everything was chaos at home. His relationship with his mother was extremely unsettling. He was actively trying to build something while he was in a “fucked up situation”. The hourglass represents how he was trying to buy time to fix things.

Participant 5

Male

Age 29

Location: Dubai

The hourglass :

The hourglass is gold in colour

The sand is floating down like a normal hourglass,

The size is also of an average hourglass

The moment he thought of: He is currently sponsoring a wonderful child who he visits very often and he is close to. He eventually wants to adopt her, but he is not being able to because of the legal formalities. He thought of the moment with his future child and he is excited for her future.

Participant 6

Male

Age 25

Location: UK

The hourglass :

The hourglass is made of glass

As the sand is moving down the glass is slowing cracking. The sand is falling down extremely slowly.

The moment he thought of: when he was getting arrested, the uncertainty of what it all might be.

Participant 7

Female

Age 24

Location: Japan

Background: Drew graffiti on the streets of Tokyo and detained for a week.

The hourglass :

The sand floated in the glass cover without any movement, like someone suspended it.

The moment she thought of:

She thought of the only thing she had in the facility, a towel that had been taken apart. With no awareness of Japanese law, this one week experience was unprepared and really shocked for her. "I can't do anything there, and the day becomes very, very slow. I can only tear a towel I got there and knit it back again and again. But soon the guards took it ..."

Participant 8

Female

Age 24

Location: Turkey

The hourglass :

The hourglass is in the shape of a cone in glass, the casing of the hourglass is dark wood colour

The inside, instead of sand it is a slippery smooth blob, which is almost like rubber, and it is having difficulty falling down.

The moment she thought of:

The moment she thought of represents her current days in turkey, she was asked to return to Turkey from the UK by her family due to the unfortunate situation of Covid 19, however when she was in turkey, the officials moved her to another isolated residence away from her family, she is now stuck in a small room, they leave food outside the room. She is not allowed to go out, they have guards outside who keep track of her. This is very similar to her experience in prison previously where she was locked up in the cell for a month.

Participant 9

male

Age 30

Location: Singapore

The hourglass :

The hourglass is lying down flat. The sand is not moving.

The moment he thought of:

He described his 6 months in Prison and how time felt like it was still, he described his experience in the cell and how each day felt like and how he measured time while he was serving his time. He was only allowed to be outside of the cell for one hour everyday. He spend most of his time reading books or doing some form of exercise. He knew the dish that was served to him each day, and used this as an indicator of which day it might be.
